I remember as a child
When I was first beguiled
By the moon in daylight
When sun was at his height,
Not just early evening
When light's already fading,
But in the mid–day sun
Before dark had begun.

Then in my childish mind,
By a hard sky confined,
Was a Copernican
Revolution begun
That was soon shattering
All of the solid seeming
Shell of the daylight sky,
Without even a sigh.
